Comprehensive RAID Array Recovery

Step Three: Analyzing the Clone Images

Once all possible images are made, and assuming we have enough images to reconstruct the original volume, the next step is to assure that each image appears to be what it is supposed to be. It is different for each RAID type, but in general we make sure that there is a consistency of data (and parity if applicable). Data is compared across all disk images, making sure that complete files are present and that a rebuild has not overwritten data, which it would not do unless the disks were out of order before the rebuild started. If everything looks good, we are ready for Step Four: Determining the RAID Algorithm
